Abra Kadabra Sponsors the 5k Run and Westonka Food Shelf Benefit Concert
At Abra Kadabra, we value different kinds of organizations who are pushing for their respective advocacies. This weekend, Saturday, September 28, we are supporting not one, but two special events. The Westonka Food Shelf and The Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk. Read further for more details.
Westonka Food Shelf
The Westonka Food Shelf is a Christian faith-based organization with a mission to reduce hunger in our local community by respectfully providing nutritionally balanced food options to those in need. Bonifacius, Tonka Shelf began serving our community in 1969. Thanks to our community’s generosity, a mission that started with helping just a few families has grown to provide healthy options to many needing assistance in Mound, Minnetrista, Navarre, Minnetonka Beach, Spring Park, St. Bonifacius, Tonka Bay, Independence and parts of Orono today.
The Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk
Since 2005 the Fundraising Committee has planned, organized, and hosted this big yearly Fall event. The Annual Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk is the organization’s most significant accomplishment to date. For over 15 years the STAWNO Fundraising Committee has organized and held this big community event. Runners and walkers come from all over to participate in the timed 5K. There are prizes and achievements won every year.
Since 2023, they have been teaming up with the Sheridan Neighborhood organization to share and grow this much-loved, active Fundraising event.
Their goal is to raise funds for neighborhood initiatives and programs run by STAWNO & SNO that bring neighbors into contact, support civic engagement and create opportunities for making our neighborhoods better places to live.
