Where do carpenter ants live?
Carpenter ants generally live in damp organic material and wood. If there’s a colony in your home, it’s often located in the attic or basement or in an area where a water leak has gone unnoticed. Outdoors, carpenter ants will take up residence in rotted tree stumps, root systems, old fence posts or retaining walls. Even piles of leaves are fair game! The older the area is and the more moisture it has, the greater the chance that the colony that’s there has been around for a while.
