Abra Kadabra In Your Community

Why We Do It

Impacting and providing opportunities to our community is near and dear to our hearts at Abra Kadabra. We want to do both in a deep and meaningful way. We do this by protecting our environment, and by supporting local events and organizations that help our community. Over the last seven years we have found that when we make these community connections, it gives us increased opportunities to serve the people in them. We believe that as a small business we’re in an incredibly powerful position to make these impacts, and we are lucky to have that honor.

We understand that our customers have chosen to live where they do. People and businesses make a conscious decision to grow in the community they have chosen, and put a lot of thought and investment into it. As a member of these same communities, we believe it’s our obligation to protect and support these communities through organizations that shape future generations.

One of our passions is to protect our environment and natural resources. We believe that protecting our lakes is something that can’t be taken for granted. We want future generations to be able to enjoy nature as we have. We work hard to use the least environmentally impactful products, and take care to place them only where appropriate. We provide peace of mind that hiring us will not contribute to environmental degradation.

Other organizations and initiatives we support are listed below. We are involved with the Polar Plunge, Adopt a Highway, Toys for Tots, Rotary Club, Pause4Paws, and more. We encourage you to participate in these or any other local initiatives that are important to you, and let us know if there’s something we can add to this list.

Thank you from all of us at Abra Kadabra!

Initiatives

Thought Leader Blogs Abra Kadabra sponsors an ongoing set of blogs dedicated to local business owners. One of the reasons our local business community is so strong is because we have some incredibly smart and insightful leaders right here in our own backyard. Entrepreneurs are given a platform to share their expert guidance and wisdom with the wider community.

Thought Leader Podcasts- Our Thought Leader Blogs have had such a positive response that we are expanding to a podcast version of the series. Stay tuned for more information!

Tonka Talk is a Lake Minnetonka area podcast updating residents on local people, places and events that make the area so special.

Sponsorships

Dog Days– Annual celebration of the Dog Days of Summer with pets, contests, demonstrations, vendors and a pet expo.

Youth SportsThe owner of Abra Kadabra went to Hamlin and played college baseball. So it’s no surprise that we love supporting youth baseball organizations. Please reach out to us and let us know if there is a team that could use some additional funding. We’d love to find a way to help support that team.

WeCan–  We believe that as a community, when we come together, we’re stronger than we are as individuals. This organization serves low-income individuals and families in Western Hennepin County who are in need of assistance.

Strive– The Chanhassen Rotary Club sponsors STRIVE, a one-on-one mentoring and scholarship program at Chanhassen High School. It identifies students whose academic progress is not reaching the high potential they are capable of, and offers incentives for reaching that potential.

Dropoff Location

Toys for Tots– This well known organization helps less fortunate children with Christmas gifts. We have been a drop off location since our Mound location opened in 2020. Our kids particularly enjoy bringing in the donations for distribution, and it warms our hearts to see them learn the value of participating.

School Supplies– Education is so important, and having the right supplies helps children arrive prepared. Our Mound location is a school supply dropoff location every August, with all supplies brough to a local elementary school right before the school year starts. The school, in turn, identifies those children in need of the supplies and distributes them.

Non-Profits

Chanhassen Rotary is apart of many initiatives and events located in the city of Chanhassen.

Pause4Paws is a fantastic nonprofit organization that raises funds for animals in need. This organization helps humane societies and other organizations with a place in their heart for helping animals in need.

Volunteering

Adopt a highway– Part of caring for our environment is the cleanup of existing pollution. We became a proud sponsor of Highway 41 between Highway 5 and Eden Prairie Road in 2020. Highway cleanups occur twice annually, and take hundreds of bags of trash off the sides of that roadway.

Networking Organizations

BNI

Other Organizations we support:

Local Child Enrichment– Schools, athletics, school supplies, playground equipment and more.

Elodie Baker Fundraiser- Baby Elodie needed a heart transplant. She spent 5 months on a Berlin machine- a mechanical heart. She was fortunate enough to receive a heart in time. During the wait, a fundraiser was borne to assist Elodie’s family with the costs associated with residing in a Chicago hospital with her.

Eli Hart Memorial Playground– Our hearts continue to go out to Eli’s family. The new playground slated for Surfside Beach in Mound will be dedicated in his honor. Please help us raise funds for this initiative.
