How do I clean up raccoon droppings?
The only way to safely address raccoon waste is to heat it until raccoon roundworm eggs have been destroyed, or to encapsulate it. Heat is only a viable option when the latrine is not in or on a structure. Waste is bagged up, tied off and disposed of when it is removable. When it is on structural elements within an attic, it must be encapsulated to ensure no contact or translocation can occur. Encapsulation is done with a substance that is painted over the framing, trapping any pathogens between the “paint” and the element it is on.
