Should you find a bat flying around in a certain area of your home, close all the doors and call your local wildlife operator to remove it. If you’re in an area without a certified wildlife control operator, we recommend keeping the bat once you capture it and sending it off to be tested for rabies no matter what.
If you do want to try and catch the bat, wait for it to land because it’s fairly easy to grab them once they’re no longer flying around. Use leather gloves that are bite proof if possible, or take a mason jar, put it on over the bat and seal the lid. You can also use a net. If the bat isn’t landing anywhere, open up a window or turn on a fan as bats can be attracted to the draft. Additionally, putting out a bucket of water or opening a toilet seat can also cause bats to gravitate to a landing spot.
