Do carpenter ants bite?
Yes. Additionally, they can spray formic acid on the bite to make it extra painful. They do not seek to bite, but will react in defense of the colony if disturbed. This most commonly occurs during gardening, or when disturbing materials they have colonized within. Ants are closely related to wasps, and many do have stingers.
