What is the difference between wasps and hornets?
Yellowjackets are a particular species of hornet and yet the terms “yelllowjacket” and “hornet” are often used interchangeably. Hornets are more aggressive than wasps and they nest in voids like yellowjackets do. However, in the case of bald-faced hornets, they’ll build an exposed colony that resembles a football and has a hole in it where the hornets can go in and out. You won’t be able to see actual nests unless you go poking around inside – which most of us won’t!
